5 boys escape from correctional facility
Police are looking for five Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility inmates who escaped yesterday afternoon by going over a four-foot high fence.
The boys jumped the fence at the facility’s swimming area about 4:50 p.m. and ran into a nearby wooded area, police said. They were last seen wearing gray shorts.
Kailua police, along with the facility’s employees, looked for the teens through the day. A police helicopter also assisted in the search.
Police did not have the boys’ ages last night or information on their criminal histories.
