You have to wonder who this guy is that will soon be replacing Kofi Annan? Is he a stooge for the powers that be? Is he a Bush appointee? I find myself curious…here is what I have come up with so far….
*He has a Bachelors degree in international relations. (1970)
*He got his masters at JFK School of Government at Harvard (1985)
*He has spent a considerable amount of time living and working in the US.
*He was South Korea’s Director General for American Affairs.
*He has spent a considerable amount of time trying to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula
*There has been some concern that he has used South Korea’s economic might (11th largest economy in the world) and his political connections to secure the new post.
* In South Korea it is said that he is a man with willingness to bend to the will of his superiors
*He was instrumental in getting Korea to send troops to Iraq and in supporting the Bush administrations War on Terror.
I don’t think I need to say more. Shit. There goes the UN.
South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-Moon, set to be formally endorsed as UN chief Kofi Annan’s successor Monday, is the only candidate left in the race as all other contenders withdrew, a UN spokeswoman said. All six rivals who initially threw their hats into the ring have informed the Security Council that they were withdrawing their candidacies, UN deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe said.
