There are two things I like about this story right off…the first is HPD’s refusal to believe that the two robberies are connected…the second is that the first robber is described as a ‘local mix’ ….sounds like a dog breed…

Two Makiki banks were robbed within minutes of each other Wednesday. The Honolulu Police Department is searching for the two robbers.
A Bank of Hawaii was robbed first at 1451 South Beretania Ave. at about 11:11 a.m. A male robber entered the bank. He pointed a handgun at a teller and demanded money, according to police.
He ran off with the cash on South King Street.
About two minutes later, the Central Pacific Bank on 1339 South Beretania Ave. was robbed. A man entered the bank and passed a demand note to the teller, police said. No weapon was visible and the suspect exited toward Kinau Street.
Despite the proximity of the two robberies, police do not suspect it was a coordinated effort.
“Two isolated incidents — banks next to each other; coincidental that they went in,” police said.
