Kinky Friedman has won his battle to appear on the Texas ballot as … Kinky Friedman.
The Texan musician and author is running against Republican Gov. Rick Perry and a bunch of other candidates, including former White House spokesman Scott McClellan’s mom and some Democrats.
Even as mainstream political polls show the cigar-chomping “Texas Jewboy” just 18 points behind front-runner Perry, Friedman had to go to battle with Texan election officials just to get his “nickname” on the ballot.
Friedman is now in second place. Other polls show him in first place, easily defeating Perry.
