I’m happy to report that I escaped from Kuala Lumpur and the bizarre broken plane situation that came about through Trip.com/Malaysian Airlines/Sri Lankan Airlines – I spent something like 24 hours there – in what used to be one of my favorite airports about a decade ago.
My new flights should get me to Sri Lanka about 24 hours later than originally expected – which will be fine. Plus I get to spend 8 hours here in this amusement park of an airport. Changi has been voged the world’s best airport a record breaking eight times. More than any other. It is the largest transportation hub in Asia, the world’s cleanest airport, and has more than 100 airlines that use it.
But wait, there’s more. It is the world’s 7th busiest airport and has won more than 620 different airport awards…which is not surprising when you come here.
It is home to the world’s largest indoor waterfall…and so much more. Much of this in the Jewel Changi complex which is outside of the transit area – so I won’t be able to visit on this layover —but, there are plenty of other things to see. Movie theatre, butterfly garden, and more shops than the Ala Moana Shopping Center – the world’s largest open air shopping mall.
I’ve barely started exploring but check out all that is available here: https://www.changiairport.com/en/discover/attractions.html#/
Free meal in the Ambassador Lounge. Thank you @ElysiumClubNFT

A Butterfly Garden – you know, usual airport stuff…no biggie…
