Speaking of Rio, hopefully Jimmy Page has learned a thing or two from the street kids. Seu Jorge used to be one of them. His first album, Carolina, debuted in 2001. He later appeared in the powerful film City of God and provided the awesome Portuguese-language covers of Bowie tunes on the soundtrack to The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
Seu Jorge’s second solo album, Cru (Raw), has been released in the US after being available in Brazil, Europe, and Japan since 2004. Among other things, it features a cover of the Elvis Presley hit “Don’t” and a song about large breast implants, “Mania De Peitão.” He’s in Toronto tonight and has 4 more US tour dates scheduled…
