In October of 2001 I drove to New York City. I walked around for the day, watching the Twin Towers smoke and watching the crowds of slack-jawed onlookers. It was, in a word, surreal.
While I was there I scooped up a small tinful of the ashy fallout that still coated everything and took a picture of some flowers someone had tied to a street sign across the corner.
You are bidding on that ash.
The winning bidder will receive a vial of this ash and 3 pictures of your choice (not copies or scans) I took of the surrounding area. I have six pictures of the area I took the ash from but I’d like to keep three of them. If you’d like scans of all six just let me know and I’ll be happy to email them to you once you win.
The vial the ash comes in has a screw top but I do NOT recommend opening the vial or handling the ash with your bare hands. After I collected it from New York my hands broke out in an itchy rash for a few hours.
I’m happy to ship this item to the winning bidder with extra insurance and Second-Day Post (UK Bidders) or Air Mail (International bidders). The vial and pictures are pretty light, so postage is reasonable for Second-Day Priority and International Signed For post (Royal Mail)
