Mar 16, Colombo: Around 100 of the famous monkeys that live around the ancient rock temple of Dambulla have died due to a reason yet to be discovered by the veterinary authorities.
The Headquarters Inspector of the Dambulla Police has acknowledged the mishap to all relevant authorities.
These monkeys are loved by the visitors to the ancient rock temple, which is one of the country’s main tourist attractions. Sometimes these monkeys behave aggressively and grab food from the visitors.
